Adventures of Jerry

Yes, I am still posting blog entries for Christmas...:( I don't feel like I can move on until I blog about our Christmas. This year our elf didn't just fly back from the North Pole and sit on a shelf. I had heard of people doing silly, mischievous things with their elf. I though my kids would get a kick out of it so, I did something each night hoping they would be entertained by him when they found him the next day. Having this plan actually helped me remember to move him each night. I only forgot to move him one night and when brad noticed, he quickly thought of something and moved him for me......awwww..he can be sweet sometimes ; ).....Anyway, here are some of Jerry's adventures...

Welcome back breakfast ....

To start the season off we had a welcome back breakfast for our Elf on the shelf a.k.a Jerry. Jerry brought advent calenders and some candy for the kids to enjoy. The kids loved their advent calenders and looked forward to opening a new window every day. Abby didn't quite get the concept so, all of her windows were torn open within about three days... :( oh well.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

This year I was bound and determined to make my house look more festive than years before. I have always loved Christmas but, my home now is bigger than the one before. This is good and this can be bad. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars to decorate every room in my home right before Christmas. I decided I would pick a dollar amount I was comfortable with and buy the things I really wanted for this year. So I headed to my favorite store which is by no surprise..... Pottery Barn!! I started off buying new pillow covers. Once I got them home and on the couch I thought "it doesn't look festive enough". I had spent close to my budget so I knew I had to be smart about my accessory purchases. I headed back to Pottery Barn hoping to get some really good pieces that would complete my look for this year. I got lucky..:) Pottery Barn was already starting to clearance out Christmas and with my employee discount on top of that I was able to get some really cute stuff..:) After I was done I felt satisfied and my family loved it. As much as I loved it this year I plan to add and go bigger next year :)

Remember the ugly/cute hutch I complained about in June? uhhh yea still not painted..:( This is on my list for this year.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving we went down to Indiana to spend it with my family. This year instead of slaving over the stove we went out to eat for Thanksgiving dinner at Rodinis. The selection was plentiful and the food tasted great! Afterward we headed back to Colleen and Danny's to have desert and play Uncle Jason's new Xbox.
On Saturday per tradition we all headed out to see Santa come to town on a firetruck. It was a bit disappointing this year considering they didn't even stop traffic and the parade was a little sparse...:( I don't think the kid's even noticed, all they cared about was that Santa had finally come to town!!

Abby's first Haircut

Well, I finally did it. After months of thinking about it, I finally gave in and let Abby have her first real haircut. She watches Brad and Parkie get theirs cut all the time and really wanted hers cut too. She was so excited to show me how pretty her hair looked. I didn't allow a drastic cut but, the little bit I did allow made her feel like a big girl...:)
