Snow Day

What do you do on a Snow day?...Well, at our house you stay in your pj's until noon, build a tent on mom's bed, play with grandma's puppies, and watch movies and eat snacks..:) We had our first snow day of the year and I can honestly say I was happy to know that even if I wanted to leave the house, I couldn't. Normally, the kid's and I would probably go stir crazy but, I think we all welcomed the break from the business of life. It was a great day to just spend quality time with the kids :)

Pinewood Derby

This year Parkie was able to participate in the Scouts Pinewood Derby.Parkie and Brad worked in Grandpa's workshop to make sure Parkie had the coolest blue Police car they could build. Abby felt a little left out so, Dad worked on a car for Abby as well making sure it was the prettiest pink princess car she had ever seen.Parkie brought along two of his best friends to help cheer him on. We went with no expectations of winning only to have fun. We were surprised to to hear that Parkie had won 3rd place overall. I actually think he could have cared less with how much fun he had at the Derby but, I was so proud of him. Afterward we took Parkie and his friends to get one of his favorite treats,..... Cookie Dough Blizzard from the DQ...:)

Parkie's favorite tradtion....

Parkie loves when it's time to decorate the Gingerbread house. Normally Brad is the one who constructs it but, he was out of town so it left mom to do it..:( The kids watched with concern as I tried putting this house together. I think for the first time they were doubting mom's crafting skills. After awhile I was ready to give up but, knowing how much it meant to Parkie, I kept at it. Eventually, I finally did get it to stand and it seemed to pass Parkie and Abby's test. They both worked on it together and I thought it turned out pretty cute.:)

Decorating the tree...

I remember as a kid getting so excited to decorate the Christmas tree. I loved looking through the ornaments and putting on my favorite ones. After we were all done decorating I liked turning all the lights off and laying under the tree and looking up into the tree mesmerized by all the brightly colored lights.
Usually, my trees are put up after thanksgiving so by the time the trees were put up they were dying to decorate. Never failing, an ornament gets dropped and breaks all over the floor. It has become almost tradition because it happens every year..:)
